He chose Somalia to honour his parents, and debuted on 5 September 2019 in a 1-0 World Cup qualifying win over Zimbabwe. The professional years since have run through Memphis 901, Greenville Triumph, Columbus Crew 2, New Mexico United and Oakland Roots — the lower-division American circuit that has carried more East African players than any league in Europe.
