KickStartKenyaFootball is run by a registered company, not a committee, and it says so. This page sets out who decides what, what is actually in place today, what is only proposed, and how to hold us to it. Where a structure does not exist yet, it is marked as proposed rather than dressed up.
Proposed governance framework. Positions marked as proposed or open have not been appointed. Confirmed appointments will be published following the appropriate selection and acceptance process.
KickStartKenyaFootball is an independent football research, heritage and development platform operated by Typhoon Sports Group Ltd. It is not the governing body of football in Kenya.
Principles
The five rules we hold ourselves to
01
Independent, and says so
This platform is not the governing body of football in Kenya and does not speak for it. It is an independent research and development platform operated by a registered company, and every page is written to be checked rather than believed.
02
Published before it is delivered
Costs, land, funding routes and county shortlists are published while they are still proposals, with the assumptions attached. That is deliberate: a plan nobody can inspect is not a plan.
03
Corrections outrank comfort
Anyone can challenge a figure. Accepted corrections are published in a public log with what the page used to say, what it says now and credit to whoever put us right.
04
No money moves without a legal entity
Any project that receives funding does so through a registered entity, with a named accountable person, a bank account in that entity's name and reporting back to whoever funded it.
05
The 18/47 split is a governance rule, not a slogan
Eighteen counties are prioritised for the professional game because the economics support it. All forty-seven are in scope for grassroots. Any decision that quietly narrows that is a governance failure.
Structure
Who decides what
Each layer, what it is responsible for and whether it exists today. Anything marked proposed has nobody in it.
Operating company
Typhoon Sports Group Ltd
In place
The registered legal entity that operates the platform, holds the domain and contracts, and carries statutory responsibility. Company number 15740405, registered in England and Wales.
Day-to-day direction of the campaign, sign-off on published research, and the point of accountability while the wider structure is still being formed. Currently held by Taiwo Leo Atieno.
The people who carry the work on the ground: coaching, county liaison, verification of local facilities and relationships with schools, clubs and county offices.
An unpaid council intended to hold the plan to account on football, finance, law, safeguarding and county representation. No member has been appointed and no name should be assumed.

Local
County Partners
Proposed — not appointed
One accountable local partner per participating county, responsible for land facts, community consent and reporting on any facility built in that county.
Accountable to The Advisory Council and the community the site servesCounty land audit
Ring-fenced
Project companies
Proposed per project
Each funded facility or club project is intended to sit in its own registered Kenyan entity, so its money, land and reporting can be inspected on their own and cannot be cross-subsidised invisibly.
Accountable to Its own investors, partners and the Business Registration ServiceFacility planner
Decision rights
What the decision rests on
What gets published as fact
Founder and Trustee, on the record
Every data point carries a source, a review date and a method tag. Anything we cannot source is labelled as an estimate or is not published.
Which counties are prioritised
Published model, not preference
The eighteen professional-game counties come out of population, income, existing football activity and land availability. The model and its inputs are on the site, so the ranking can be argued with.
What a facility costs
County-level economic model
Capex, opex and revenue are built from local wages, local rent and local income rather than a national average, then published per county and per facility type.
Whether a project proceeds
Feasibility, land, consent, funding
All four have to be resolved and evidenced. No project is announced as going ahead on the strength of interest alone.
Who we work with
Verifiable record only
Recommended organisations are ones with a public statutory record and direct working experience. Anyone listed can ask to be removed.
Conflicts of interest
The overlaps, disclosed
Related organisations and relationships that could influence what this platform publishes, and what we do about each one.
FC Nairobi
FC Nairobi is the first major implementation project emerging from this wider vision. It is a separate organisation with its own management.
The platform does not present FC Nairobi as the only route for Kenyan football, and county research is not steered toward it. The relationship is disclosed on the FC Nairobi page.
A separate company, registered in England and Wales, that carries out research and verification work behind data on this platform.
Disclosed on the recommended entities list rather than presented as an independent third-party audit. Sources are published so the underlying data can be checked without it.
The founder intends to invest in and mobilise the initial funding required to begin delivering the first demonstration projects. Each project remains subject to feasibility, approvals, partnerships, funding and transparent implementation arrangements.
No public appeal
This platform does not run a donation appeal and does not collect public money. Projects are costed and offered to investors, sponsors and partners on published terms.
Ring-fenced projects
Any funded project is intended to run through its own registered Kenyan entity with its own account, so that spend can be traced to the site it was raised for.
Reporting back
Each funded project is expected to publish what was spent, what was built and what it now costs to run, against the model published before it started.
Safeguarding
Working with children and young people
Any programme carrying the KickStartKenyaFootball name is expected to meet these conditions before a child takes part.
Children come first, structurally
Any programme working with under-18s is expected to have a named safeguarding lead, vetted coaches, a written reporting route and consent from parents or guardians on record before a child takes part.
No child is a promotional asset
Children are not used to raise money on this platform. Images of identifiable minors are only published with documented consent, and never alongside a fundraising ask.
Coaching qualifications are checked, not assumed
Coaches attached to a KickStartKenyaFootball project are expected to hold a recognised CAF or FKF licence appropriate to the age group, and the licence is verified.
Concerns are escalated, not managed internally
A safeguarding concern goes to the safeguarding lead and, where a child may be at risk, to the appropriate Kenyan authorities. It is not resolved quietly to protect a project's reputation.
Data governance
How the numbers are governed
Every figure carries its origin
Data points are labelled with the source, the date it was last reviewed and whether it is measured, modelled or estimated.
Community submissions are reviewed before publication
Contributions from the public and the diaspora are checked, classified and de-duplicated before anything reaches a page. Nothing is published straight from a form.
The part most organisations leave out. These are the governance commitments we have not yet met.
The Advisory Council and County Partner roles are proposed. Nobody has been appointed, and this page will name people only once appointments are made and accepted.
No project company has been incorporated in Kenya yet. The ring-fencing described here is the intended structure, not an existing one.
Facility economics are modelled from public data and local cost indices. They are planning figures, not quotations, and will move once real tenders come in.
Independent audit of the platform's research has not yet been commissioned. Until it is, the defence is published sources rather than an audit opinion.
This page last reviewed 2026-06-01. Governance changes are logged in the corrections log.
Open to every county
Know a site? Bring the project and get paid when it is funded.
Land nobody is using, a school field, a county ground, a club that has outgrown its home. File it and we put it to our partners for investment consideration — a successful application earns 1.5% of the funded project value, half on the signed agreement and half on completion.
